Long-Term Care at a Crossroads: Delivering Affordable Capacity in a Constrained Market

By April 15, 2026No Comments

BC residents wait far too long to find safe, appropriate long-term care for their loved ones. The government has delayed the creation of new care home beds, which means many seniors remain in hospitals longer than they should, or families are left struggling without the support they need to care for their loved one at home.

On May 6, a panel hosted by the Canadian Centre for Healthcare Facilities will bring together leaders to discuss how we can create more long-term care spaces that truly support residents, families and staff.

ILTCCABC President, Lisa Dawson, will represent the voices of long-term care residents, families and their care teams. A long-term care home is not just a building, and it is a tool that either gives staff time to care — or takes it away.
