Independent Long-Term Care Councils Association of BC (ILTCCABC)  thank the new BC Seniors Advocate for their engagement with seniors in our communities across BC for gathering their stories which has helped inform the OSA recommendations in this incredibly timely call to action on issues plaguing seniors across BC.

Based on these key issues and concerns, the OSA provided the following recommendations based on findings:

1. Redesigning the Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters Program

2. Increase the amount of BC Seniors Supplement (BCSS)

3. Eliminate the daily rate charge for home support

4. Provide the shingles vaccine at no cost to B.C. seniors

5. Develop and implement a cross-ministry seniors’ services strategy and action plan.

As we end seniors’ week, remember those most vulnerable in long-term care. ILTCCABC is your provincial association of long-term care councils – connect with us to help you raise resident and family voice by way of councils in your long-term care home: iltccabc@gmail.com
