Brought by end-of-life doulas Lianne Cohen and Cory Bretz, you’ll hear about what to anticipate through the typical experience of dying, how to be helpful, do self-care, advocate for your loved one and collaborate with other family members, staff, and medical caregivers.
This workshop covers many of the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and practical aspects of death throughout the transition.

By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:
• Describe the normal stages and signs of the dying process in LTC
• Identify concrete steps families can take at each phase (before, during, and after death)
• Use communication tools to align family, staff, and goals of care
• Understand how Family Councils can strengthen LTC end‑of‑life culture
• Take away a one-page Action Summary sheet you can share

Ample time will be allotted for questions, “what ifs”, and the acknowledgment of grief and pain.

Together for more than 16 years, end-of-life doulas Lianne Cohen and Cory Bretz bring their shared talents, skills, experience, and hearts to their clients and families in service and collaboration. They have completed specialized End-of-life support training, including in both end-of-life doula work and grief and bereavement.

They believe that each person is entitled to die as they lived: creatively in charge of their own journey, as much as is physically possible. They start by living more now.

Lianne has worked with seniors since 2010, supporting older adults and their families through a wide range of health challenges and life stages. Her calm and caring nature has made her a comforting presence in the lives of many. Whether she’s preparing meals, accompanying clients to appointments, or simply listening to their stories, Lianne brings warmth and respect to every interaction. Her ability to form genuine bonds with those in her care is one of her most defining qualities.
