DESCRIPTION:Northern Association of Family Councils (NAFC)  \n\n\n\nSeptember 12\, 2024  \n\n\n\n7:00 pm – 8:00 pm via zoom \n\n\n\nNAFC is 1 of 5 independent regional associations of family councils which make up the Independent Long-Term Care Councils Association of BC (ILTCCABC)\, a provincial association of family councils. Through monthly ILTCCABC meetings\, our collective voice is elevated to the Ministry of Health to affect positive change to the long-term care system in BC. If you’re a member of a Family Council operating in a long-term care home in the Northern region of BC\, we would love to have your family council join NAFC.  \n\n\n\nFor more information about NAFC www.northernfamilycouncils.ca     \n\n\n\nContact Nola cell 250-667-5686 \n\n\n\nIndependent “Family Councils” and combined “Resident and Family Councils” operating in long-term care homes in the Northern region of BC\,  as well as individual volunteer community members (persons with lived experience in long-term care) are invited to meet and network via this regional forum. We share best practices (standards known to produce good outcomes if followed) and identify systemic issues (issues that are occurring in many long-term care homes in the northern region). We look to overcome barriers faced by our councils so they can operate more effectively. We offer educational components to help our members gain a better understanding of the BC long-term care system. We assist long-term care residents/ families and operators establish and maintain independent councils (self-led\, self-determining\, and democratic). We look for ways to improve quality of care and quality of life for residents living in long-term care.

SUMMARY:Vancouver Coastal Association of Family Councils Forum September 18th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:VCAFC holds regional family council forums regularly to invite our member independent family councils together to share their ideas and concerns across our VCH region. We support one another by celebrating positive stories about what family councils can do and we share and tackle the barriers to family councils being effective and sustainable. \n\n\n\nWe also ensure systemic issues across our long-term care system are teased out. These are priorities which should be tackled by our Ministry of Health. We raise those issues by way of the provincial association of  family council meetings. Our regional association representatives meet monthly to share with ILTCCABC the voices of their family councils.
